Mother and Daughter Stories Defining Miss Venezuela History

Clara Vegas Goetz and her mother, Andreína Goetz Blohm, embody one of the most iconic family connections in the history of Miss Venezuela: two crowns within the same family, a legacy that bridges generations. Yet, did you know they weren’t the first to establish such remarkable family ties in this legendary pageant?

Let’s take a closer look at the story of Susana Duijm and her daughter, Carolina Cerruti—one of the most emblematic mother-and-daughter duos in the history of Miss Venezuela.

Mother and Daughter: Susana Duijm and Carolina Cerruti Duijm

Susana Duijm y Carolina Cerruti Duijm

The Duijm–Cerruti story symbolizes the very first mother-and-daughter dynasty in Miss Venezuela. Susana opened the doors with a historic triumph, and Carolina reaffirmed that beauty could indeed be passed down as a legacy. Together, they embody how the pageant becomes a stage for generational continuity.

Susana Duijm was crowned Miss Venezuela in 1955 and went on to become the first Latin American woman to win the title of Miss World that same year. Her international victory transformed her into a cultural icon for Venezuela, paving the way for the nation to establish itself as a global powerhouse in beauty pageants.

In 1983, Carolina Cerruti—the daughter of Susana and Argentine publicist Martín Cerruti—competed in Miss Venezuela representing the state of Apure. She earned the title of Miss World Venezuela 1983 and traveled to London to participate in the international pageant, continuing the family tradition. Although she did not capture the world crown, her presence solidified the mother-and-daughter duo as one of the most memorable in the history of the competition.

Susana Duijm passed away on June 18, 2016, in Porlamar, Nueva Esparta, Venezuela.

The Goetz Dynasty Makes History at Miss Venezuela

Andreína Goetz Blohm, born in La Gran Sabana in 1969, was crowned Miss Venezuela 1990 representing the state of Bolívar. Her elegance and charisma carried her to Miss Universe 1990, where she reached the Top 10 and secured her place as one of the most unforgettable queens of her era. After her reign, she chose a more private life, dedicating herself to her family and studies, yet always remained an influential figure—a symbol of beauty and discipline.

Miss Venezuela 2025

Her daughter, Clara Vegas Goetz, carried forward that legacy when she was crowned Miss Venezuela 2025, representing Miranda. Her victory marked not only a personal milestone but also a historic one: for the first time, a Miss Venezuela witnessed her daughter achieve the same crown. Clara has stood out for her artistic talent and well-rounded education, qualities that reflect the guidance and example of her mother. Together, mother and daughter embody how beauty pageants can become symbols of identity and family continuity within Venezuelan culture.

How far will Clara Vegas go at Miss Universe? Will she surpass the Top 10 placement achieved by her mother? Share your thoughts and tell us if you know of other mother-and-daughter stories in the world of beauty pageants.
